Monk/Necro Anyone have any success with this combo
I am at level 17 and just don't know where to go with this character. I am using a Monk/Necro combo and the monk is the primary. I thought about using minions to do my bidding but they die off to fast. Then I thought about getting verta's sacrifice but I cant seem to travel to Coppermines.
Anyone have any success with this combo and if so what numbers did you use on your skills? |

I've seen monk/necros used before but they usually go with blood magic instead of death magic. There is an elite necro skill, offering of blood, where you sacrifice 10% health for 8-20 energy and that is very popular. I'm a little biased in that I love the blood magic line and minions annoy me, especially the fact that they die off so easy. Also in the blood magic line is well of power which gives health and energy regen for people standing in it, another spell loved by monks.
So I guess my advice is to go to the blood magic line and give that a shot. |

I don't know the Monk skills very well, but it seems like you could make a pretty good healer with Mo/N.

The only reason I can think of to go with necro secondary would be for offering of blood.

So having a Mo/N with say 10 Healing 12 Death Magic and 2 Blood Magic wouldnt be a good idea? I am finding that unless I have Verta's Sacrifice I am unable to have a large amount of minions.
I did see a N/MO20 and he had like 50 minions . An Army of them.. We just sat back and picked up the gold.. |

until offering of blood dont put any points into your secondary. After offering of blood go at least 8 blood magic, Im at 10 with mine.

Unfortunately, forget it. PvE just maybe but PvP can be very difficult to pull off.

all the good necro skills cost too much mp, like the ele skills. my monk used to be necro secondary and i would throw well of suffering to help out the dmg dealers, but i got tired of not having energy so i switched.

if you wanted to be a necro you should have made it your primary deathmagic wont be anywhere near as good without runes. set yourself up as a healing monk.

I don't agree with Draken at all. Both my PVE and PVP Monk are Monk/Necromancers and it works really great. Actually it's the only combination that works well in PUGs and it definitly works.
Try to put some points in Blood Magic and take Offering of Blood (you wont be getting this for some time, so stick to Healing Prayers and Divine Favor for now). I have 12 Healing Prayers, 10 Divine Favor and 8 Blood Magic, which gives me 13 Energy each Offering of Blood (actually 8, since Offering of Blood also costs 5 Energy). Since Monks run short of Energy really quickly, this is a really best Elite skill to carry with you (since I think the famous Word of Healing isn't worth it) as a Monk. If you don't like you Monk/Necromancer after all, just change you secondary. Go to the Crystal Dessert and you can change to the other 4 secondarys still left. |

ok this might seem foolish but let me explain, i have a monk/necro who is actually very successful and i dont use blood magic at all, i use death magic, but i also dont support, i use more smiting.
The goal behind this combo is to have strong smiting prayers, powerful minions along with a few more attack based death magic skills, and some points into healing prayers so you can be more successful. this actually works better than you might think. I can do great damage to monsters with my smiting, and while they are recharging use some of my death magic attacks, and have my minions (which at high death magic level can survive a good while) beat off weaker monsters or help me attack. And they actually do some good damage, and when i get low on health simply use my decently good healing prayers. I like this combo, but i only reccomend it if you dont wanna support people |

I heard checking dates was good.
Anyho, back 3 years ago No/N was good for [[oob] on boonprots or something. Nowadays, it's pretty crap asides from [[ss] on farmers (and [[necrosis] on monks wanting to kill stuff.... smiting damage sucks) |

your using your secondary profession wrong. the secondary profession is SECONDARY, use it to support the role of your primary*.
Mo/N-should be some sort of heal/prot, possibly using things like offerning of blood to help them do that. the only combo i can think of other than offering of blood for energy would be draw conditions paired with plauge sending, but thats a little odd and really not that useful. also consume corpse can yield HUGE energy gain in PvE. * on rare occasion the secondary profession is the role taken using the primary to augment it, such as N/Rt healers using soul reaping to power out ritualist spells. EDIT: owned by thread necro... |

You can also change your secondary by getting to Senji's Corner in Factions if you have that campaign. |

Monk/Necro works just fine for me.
I don't bother raising my own minions but will happily use Verata's gaze and occasionally Verata's Aura. These work well when I am in an area where enemy minions are being raised. They do the animating and I take control of them, you don't even need that many points in death to make it work. |

I just use my Mo/N for fun and farming, smiting my enemies, and dancing on the corpses of bosses before turning them into flesh golems. Of course, I wouldn't expect anyone else to put up with those antics.
